About the Authors
Joel Mambretti is Director of the International Center for Advanced Internet Research at Northwestern University, and the Metropolitan Research and Education Network (MREN), which interlinks major Midwest universities and national labs. MREN, a prototype advanced network for next gerneration Internet initiatives, has been in operation since 1994.

Andrew Schmidt is Chief Architect of next generation Internet services for Ameritech, manager of services for the lartgest Internet exchange in the world, and a Research Associate at iCAIR.
